Who's coming with me to the festival this year? - There's something about Mary...
|Aug. 3rd, 2011 06:24 pm Who's coming with me to the festival this year?|
The accommodation booking is open for this year's science festival and I am making a booking for a group of us for 7 nights, the first night being Friday 9th September and the last night being Thursday 15th September, so we depart on the morning of Friday 16th.
The cost for the whole week's (7 nights) accommodation at Bradford University will be just £280. That is £140 payable to me now, and £140 payable to me in the first week of September (or pay the whole thing now if that is easier for you).
And, great news : in previous years there has been about £150 to add to that accommodation cost, for a weekly ticket to the festival itself, but this year almost all of the lectures/talks/debates/events are free! There are no weekly tickets. The sort of things that aren't free are the sort of things that weren't included in the weekly ticket in the past - so you'll get the same fabby week of sciencey-fun as last time, but without the additional price-tag! For those on a budget, you can quite happily not go to any of the paying events, and have a whole week of glorious science for nothing other than accommodation and beer money!
As per usual the accommodation is in self-catering student halls, in flats for 6 people. I am hoping that we get 12 of us and can fill 2 flats completely, but in any event we will be grouped together if you book through me.
Please comment to this post with your first name and last name (needed for the accommodation office) if you would like me to reserve you a place with our group. And please make payment of your first £140 either to my paypal email account (a 'gift') sent to Paypal AT ChezMary DOT com, or direct to my bank account (the one with sort code 51-61-11, not the old Lloyds one which is now closed).
So, if you wish to be part of my group, please leave a comment to the version of this post on Live Journal (and not elsewhere) on or before this Sunday 7th August so that I can confirm names and numbers with the accommodation office on Sunday evening.
SO looking forward to it! 15 comments - Leave a comment

I'd love to go sometime, but i just can't afford it whilst i'm not working. :(
Have fun though. :) x
I'll be going :)
I was umming and ahhing about whether or not to do the halls of residence thing this year - I mean technically it is only a couple if stops on the train.
But to hell with it, it's always great fun seeing you guys count me in. I'll sort out the money tonight.
I'm around there anyway, obviously- I'm a bit short on time off, but will be trying to get to some of the weekend and evening things. Meet up at some point?
I already have a con in September, so gonna hafta miss it this year :(
I will be good, unlike some other commenter's, and do as requested.
And yay, as I detest beer, no beer money needed :)

Possibly, probably. I might even know someone else who'd be coming along as a science festival newbie. It depends on holiday cover; I'll find out from work and let you know ASAP.
